I’m a sucker for cute patterns and when I saw this adorable graphical yellow triangle paper plate and cup set, I wanted to throw a party immediately! Since Halloween is around the corner I had an idea to create a simple but cute animal mask using these cutely designed plates! In no time at all you’ll have a simple and fun bear or cat mask for your little one (or even yourself!) Halloween solved in ten minutes flat.

Here is what you will need:

scissors
glue gun
2" wide circle punch
black felt tip marker

Step 1
Using scissors, cut your paper plate in two.

Step 2
Using your circle craft punch, punch out two holes for eyes. Hold on to those circles for later!

Step 3
Trim yourself some pointy cat ears.

Step 4
Cut your paper straws into two inch long pieces for whiskers!

Step 5
Using a black felt tipped marker, draw on a little nose onto the bottom of your cup. Nervous about drawing? Imagine a silhouette of a mushroom, or an oval cloud with nostrils.

Step 6

Using your glue gun, adhere the cup to the paper plate.

Step 7
Using your glue gun, adhere the straw whiskers to the sides of the cup. You’ll need to hold them in place for 10 seconds or so while the glue dries. Once the whiskers are attached, glue on the paper plate triangles (or the rounded punched out holes) for ears.

Step 8
Turn your mask over and glue one of the matching straws to the backside, masquerade style!

All finished! Was that easy or what?

I tried to get my little guy to hold up the mask! That lasted about 3 seconds!

I also created a quick cat faced cake topper out of leftover plate - I simply used a larger circle craft punch to make a circle, drew a cat’s face on it with a Sharpie marker and glued on tiny triangle ears. I taped it to one of the straws and plunked it into my strawberry cake.
