Favorite New Faces of Alt

We met some real gems (pun intended) at Alt Summit this year. Here are a few of our favorite new faces!

1. Lesley Graham of  Lesley W. Graham

I was virtually introduced to Lesley before Alt Summit as she is friends with one of our contributors, Meghan Splawn of Stir & Scribble. I knew Jessie & I were going to hit it off with her immediately when she complimented my name and told me that Stevie Nicks was her "spirit animal" (anyone that likes Stevie Nicks and uses the word spirit animal is automatically cool in my book.)

Why is it when you finally get to met someone in person, it typically happens at the worst time? Thursday morning Jessie & I stumbled like zombies down to the hotel lobby (sporting no make-up, glasses & bed head) to get our morning coffee. As we turn around to leave, I see this lady with beautiful red hair sitting at one of the tables, and knew right away it was Lesley. I really hesitated going over to say hello at first (as I looked nothing short of a hot mess). But, I am a person that can't help myself when it comes to making new friends....so I went for it......and I am so glad I did!

Lesley is an easy going, free spirit & we enjoyed getting to know her through out the conference. And not only is Lesley a breath of fresh air to be around, she is also extremely talented. When I checked out her blog, I wanted to jump right into her pictures! I am pretty sure I need her to come over and style my life, as she has impeccable taste. You too can fall in love with her sweet & aesthetically pleasing world by reading more about her at

2. Justin Lyon, Producer of Yo Gabba Gabba!

The Thursday night party ended with a real bang for us! After an evening of making new friends (we were quite the social butterflies that night) we decided we better head to bed. As we walked out of the ball room, we came across a guy in camouflage pants & very shiny patent leather shoes. Now those of you that have been to Alt know, there aren't many dudes around. In the sea of top knots & brightly colored lips, the boys in the bunch REALLY stand out. Based on the outfit alone, we knew that we HAD to meet this person. As we start chatting, we found out he's the producer of Yo Gabba Gabba

Justin is as fun as you would except a producer of a kids show to be. He was also a super great sport when we started busting out "There's a party in my tummy!", and even joined in. With him being the only person at Alt our kids would actually be excited to hear that we met, we had to get our picture taken with him. What resulted was one of our favorite moments from the entire conference.

Justin, you are a big ball of awesome & we adore you!

3. Dayle Bennett of No. 4 Design Studio

We are SO glad Dayle came into our world!! We met this sassy ball of energy the night of our mini party. She has one of those personalities you are just drawn to. You just want to be friends with her. Not only is Dayle so much fun to be around, she is also a very inspiring & creative lady. As one of the speakers this year, she taught us all the importance of creative thinking, and how it enables us to approach tasks, problems & situations with openness. She is absolutely brilliant & from this day forward, I will always consider her to be the Oprah of our community. Check out her creative genius on her blog, No. 4 Design Studio.

4. Alix & Dottie of Modern Kiddo:

These ladies are SO.MUCH.FUN. Over the top and ridiculous, these two are our kind of people. We met them while we were in line for one of the photo booths. After thirty seconds of talking to them, we became a total fans (like in a " We are going to follow you around until you promise to be our friends" kind of fans. Come to think of it, groupies might be a better word)  Any way, we loved these ladies vintage kitsch style, kooky personalities & the fact that whenever they were around, we laughed until our bellies hurts. If you want a little slice of happy, be sure to check them out over at Modern Kiddo.

5. Summer Wick of Why All The Fuss

Summer might have every girls dream job. She is a personal stylist for Anthropologie in Portland, Oregon (jealous, right?!) But that is not all. This dazzling gal is also in the events industry AND a blogger. I get tired just thinking about all the amazing things she is doing. This Maggie Gyllenhall lookalike is a true delight with a heart of gold. Personable, kind & creative, you just want to put her in your pocket so you can pull her out whenever you need to smile. We also fell in love with Summer's approach to her blog, where being imperfect is perfection. In the "Pinterest" world we live in today, it is refreshing to be reminded not to sweat the small stuff & to love your life. Be sure to stop Summer's blog Why All The Fuss.

Be sure to stop back by tomorrow when we share all our photos from our four day adventure!
